The Delegation of ASEAN Economic and Trade Promotion Association Visited JZMU

On November 29th, Bo Shanglang, President of the ASEAN Economic and Trade Promotion Association, Assistant Secretary General of ASEAN, and Vice President of the University of Cambodia, accompanied by Liu Yang, Deputy Secretary General of Jinzhou Municipal People’s Government, and Lai Tingting, Deputy Director of Jinzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, visited Jinzhou Medical University for inspection and exchange. Vice President Li Hangyu, the heads of functional departments of JZMU and representatives of international students from ASEAN countries attended the event. The meeting was chaired by Zhu Xiaomei, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center.

Vice President Li Hangyu first warmly welcomed the delegation on behalf of Jinzhou Medical University, and expressed sincere gratitude to the Jinzhou municipal government for its support and guidance in the field of education internationalization. He pointed out that under the guidance of “The Belt and Road” initiative, JZMU has constantly strengthened educational exchanges with ASEAN countries and built a solid foundation for cooperation in many fields. China and ASEAN complement each other’s advantages, meet their needs, and have broad cooperation space in medical education, medical services, and the pharmaceutical industry. This delegation’s visit provided a key opportunity for deepening cooperation and innovating paradigms.

Bo Shanglang spoke highly of “The Belt and Road” educational cooperation practice between JZMU and ASEAN universities. He pointed out that education knows no borders, and deep collaboration between medical universities is an important lever for expanding the partnership between the two sides. At present, the healthcare industry in ASEAN countries is in a stage of rapid development, with a growing demand for high-quality medical talents and advanced medical technologies. Meanwhile, China’s medical education system is mature and its research strength is strong, and the cooperation between the two sides has broad space and enormous potential. As an applied medical university, the advantages and characteristics of Jinzhou Medical University are highly compatible with the current medical development needs of ASEAN countries. “We look forward to taking this inspection as an opportunity to promote substantive cooperation and exchanges between ASEAN universities, enterprises, and Jinzhou Medical University.”

Liu Yang stated that the Jinzhou municipal government would actively coordinate resources, build communication bridges, promote effective cooperation, and contribute to building a closer China ASEAN mutually beneficial cooperation relationship.


Two ASEAN international students from Indonesia shared their study experiences at JZMU, expressing their desire to improve the local medical level and become a cultural exchange link between the two countries when returning home after completing their studies here.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the JZMU history museum and the new campus sand table, experiencing the development vitality and unique charm of medical humanities of Jinzhou Medical University up close. The meeting has gathered consensus on cooperation and ushered in a good beginning for Jinzhou Medical University to deepen cooperation with ASEAN countries in the fields of international education, medical services, and teacher-student exchanges.
